Anthony Caceres!
Fan favourite Anthony Caceres joins us on the pod this week to talk about all things SFC, football, his career and this Friday’s 2nd leg semi final. We go around the grounds, review and preview recent fixtures for our men and NPL boys too. A usual suspect makes their way back into our villains this week and we’re excited to talk about Alex Baumjohann rejoining the club in a new role! All the best to the fellas ahead of the 2nd leg semi final! C’mon you boys in blue!
A game for the ages!
How good was last Saturday night?! A game, a performance, a triumph that will live long in our memories. We went into enemy territory and came out victorious sending WSW packing out of the ALM finals. Delicious. Listen in as we dissect the game in-depth and preview the first of two legs against Melbourne City starting this Friday.
ALW CHAMPIONS!
They came, they saw, they conquered! A massive congratulations to our sky blues girls for securing the double this season with an emphatic win in the grand final. You’re amazing and we’re all very proud of you. And if that’s not enough…the men had a resounding win in their final game of the season setting up a tantalising elimination final with WSW. Our NPL fellas absolutely smoked APIA with a 4-0 win. Three games, three victories and three clean sheets. Pretty, pretty, pretty good. Listen to all of this and more as we review, preview, go around the grounds and laugh at our 22/23 predictions.
6th consecutive GF and finals secured
A terrific win on the road in Brisbane saw our sky-blue men secure a place in the top 6 the ALM finals. But the highlight of the weekend has to go to our sky-blue women, with thanks to a Madi Haley winning goal, has seen them reach a 6th grand final in a row. Be sure to get to CommBank Stadium on Sunday afternoon from 4pm to cheer them on!
Mixed results at home
Our men had a superb win over the Glory sending them straight to the departures lounge back to Perth. Alas, our women had a disappointing loss to Western United in their qualifying final but they will live to fight another day. Jono is still away galavanting around Canada but rest assured Sean and Jules have the sky blue week covered thanks in part to some nifty AI work.
PREMIERS!
They came, they saw, they conquered! Congratulations to each and every player, member and cog of the SFC A-League Women’s team for claiming the premier’s plate. You’ve done yourself, your club and all fans of the club very proud. An incredible achievement! The girls clinched the title with a resounding 4-0 win over the Jets. The men snatched a draw with Western thanks to a magic Mak brace. We preview a tough road trip for the men as they head to Adelaide and discuss our young fellas coming up against a David Carney led Wollongong Wolves.
SFC NPL continue winning ways
David beat Goliath last week with our young SFC fellas beating last season’s NPL champions, Blacktown City, with a superb Harbas free kick. Our girls had a resounding 3-0 win over Adelaide edging closer to the premier’s plate. We chat with Alex Reilly about the Sydney FC Foundation ahead of this weekend’s Memorable Experience Program. And, we preview what are massive games for our men, women’s and NPL teams this weekend.
Unacceptable, untenable, it’s time to go
As the most successful club in ALM history we hold ourselves to a higher standard than the rest. What took place last Saturday night should never be repeated and fans and members of the club deserve more. The men were out played, the women had a disappointing last minute draw but the shining light were our young fellas of the NPL who had a brilliant win against Sydney United thanks to a Mitch Glasson goal in the closing stages of the game. Jules, Jono and Sean dissect the weekend’s results, look ahead to the weekend’s fixtures and all emphatically agree a change is needed yesterday.
No luck against those from the land of long white cloud
Our fortunes and desire for 3 points were dashed not once but twice at the hands of the Wellington Phoenix in our men’s and women’s fixtures. Well done to our young fellas for back to back wins for the first time this season. Jono and Sean preview a massive weekend with the 3rd and final derby of the season and our women have a top four clash with City.
