A message banner in response to an insane Daily Telegraph article which claimed to reveal overcounting of the attendance at Sydney FC’s previous home game. It read “Count on us forever. Forget the Daily Terror.”.
The article, by John Taylor, said that “a comprehensive camera study of the entire stadium 10 minutes into the second half showed there [were] fewer than 6500” fans in attendance at the match against Brisbane, substantially lower than the announced crowd of 8,456. In response, the SCG Trust and Sydney FC provided the official turnstile figure of 8,396, to which a “conservative” 60 were added to account for people who entered with accreditation passes that were not barcoded.
