A series of message banners displayed throughout the match, in response to a Daily Telegraph article that included names and photographs of banned A-League fans, published along with a predictably derogatory Rebecca Wilson opinion piece.
The first set of banners, displayed around the 30th minute, read: “You can name us. Try and shame us. But you’ll never break us!”.
The second set, displayed around the 60th minute, read: “It’s not fear of fans. It’s fear of football.”
Finally around the 80th minute, a pair of banners directed at the governing body, reading: “FFA standing silent as our rights are trampled.”
