A message banner in support of Bahraini footballer and refugee Hakeem al-Araibi, who was in detention in Thailand and under threat of extradition to Bahrain.
Al-Araibi had fled Bahrain in 2013 after having been accused of taking part in an attack on a Manama police station in 2012, and was granted refugee status in Australia in 2017. He was arrested upon arrival in Thailand during his honeymoon, due to the issuance of an Interpol red notice. He received support from the FFA, PFA and FIFA, while Craig Foster ran a strong campaign for his release. In February 2019 the charges against him were dropped and he returned to Australia.
