Five years on from the classic match which saw Sydney FC clinch the A-League Premiership on the final day of the 2009-10 season, hosting Melbourne Victory on Valentine’s Day again gave the Cove the opportunity to relive those memories.
Four huge static banners ran across the front of the bay, reading “Thanks For The Memories; 14/2/2010” and showing images of Karol Kisel celebrating his opener, the team surrounding John Aloisi after his sealer, Steve Corica holding the Premiers Plate aloft and a Sydney FC player standing in front of the Cove, with “FTT” on the big screen. Two banners dropped down from Bays 24 and 25 featuring the “S” wreath and “Happy Anniversary”.
Edwin Lugt, who was CEO at the time of the 2010 double win, helped deploy the tifo.
